The Tracks Henry's Tub
Henry Harnish graciously transported this Aurora Tub track to the Shootout. The track is in terrific shape, and was a joy to race on. It is laid out with lock-and-joiner track including Model Motoring 15" straights. Timing and power management is handled through TrakMate for Windows. Used at the Shootout for the first time this year. The Small Track
This is the small and fast 4'x8' Tomy track. The track ran in the opposite direction as last year. It's a fast track with some tricky corners, but nevertheless, the lap times on Team race day were insanely low. This is the track's sophomore year at the Shootout. Timing is done with Trakmate 1.61 with manual track power management. Octorara Mole HillsThis is the third year for this lock-and-joiner track at the Shootout. It is a 4'x12' layout that does not require a car to have a high top end. Timing is done with Trakmate 1.61, and power is controlled by an analog Gralab timer. Mercer FlatsThis is the third year for this version of Mercer Flats, and fifth year for Mose's track at the Shootout. This is another lock-and-joiner track. With a layout that's a little under 4'x14', you need a car with good speed for the main straight, but with enough handling to get you through the sweeping variable radius turns. The transition from 15" outside to 6" inside is not very friendly. Timing is kept by Trakmate 1.61 with the relay installed to manage track power. The Wiz Track"Ease on down the road"... I don't think so. This is the biggest, fastest Shootout track. Also in its third year, I continue to be amazed at the speed needed to be successful on this track. If it weren't for the turns at the end of the straights, this track would a piece of cake to drive. Well maybe not since you still have to contend with the squiggles in the middle regardless. Timing is done with Trakmate 1.61, and power is controlled through a digital Graylab timer. The Tomy Banked TrackJust about everyone hates this track. Of the 40 or so racers in the room, only 2 of us voted to race on this track. Sure there are power issues, drives like a construction zone on the New Jersey Turnpike, and there is a good chance that the very fast Super Stock cars would end up in a violent crash to the floor when hitting the bank with WOT. But to me, that's the charm of this track. This may be the last time we see this track at a Shootout. Please don't cry. Timing is done with Trakmate 1.61 with manual power management. All tracks are powered by the MG 10A/20V DC power supply (a.k.a. Galinko Power Supply).
