More from 11/12/2000

This is the new addition that will house the Paperboy track by the next race on 12/10/2000.  For now it was the pit area.  A few tables were set up giving ample room for racers to put down their race boxes and work on their cars.  From left to right we see Joe Selinski, JB, and Smokey getting ready to race.

These were the cars Team Bigstuff tried out that day.  Fryguy decided on the yellow Ferarri 250 (custom paint) in the upper left, and I used the Team Bigstuff AMX.  Mine is the #1 AMX, Fryguy's is the #2.

So can you tell I had my camera set up with the wrong settings?  It's a shame I didn't notice.  Anyway, this is Larry Schenk and his Lola (4th Place).  He had a Thunder Engineering independent o-ring front.  Check out the size of the spacers available from Bob Edwards!  The rears are also Thunder Engineering.

While many of us brought many cars to figure out which to run, Tom Bowman just brought one.  And that car led him to the top qualifying spot, and a 3rd place finish overall.  He's got the Wizzard brass independent front end for T-Jets, and JB's Thunder Rubbers in the rear.  He also had hub caps on the rears, but I can't remember who makes them.

Here we see Gage tech'ing the top 2 cars.  JB's 2nd plan Mustang is the top picture, and Joe's winning Lola is the bottom picture.  Both use the Wizzard brass independent front end (which was a very popular choice among racers that day).  JB used his Thunder Rubbers in the rear, and it looks like Joe used the Wizzard T-Jet LAW rear tires.
Despite all the yelling that could be heard during the racing and the high stakes crash-n-burn that decided the winner, there are no hard feelings at all.  Everybody talks about the camaraderie that exists among the racers in this series, and this is just one example of it.
Team Bigstuff member, Fryguy, made his race debut on Sunday, and had no prior practice coming in.  Tough way to start racing.  So he finished last... He didn't care.  He had a great time, met some great people, get good advice and experience, and walked away with a car!  A yellow MM Yenko, courtesy of sponsor Model Motoring.  Not bad for $5 entry fee!
