There was a lot of exciting action at the second race of the 2001-2002 season!

This was the second race in the 2001-2002 season of the Vintage HO Racing Series.  This race brought in 28 racers, including some new faces and entrants to the series. With more new racers showing interest in the series, we continue to grow!

Among those present were Frank Spena of Horseheads NY, a representative of the racing series at Pocket Rocket Raceway. Frank had a great time, and invited us to join the folks at P.R.R. for some racing sometime. I think we might take him up on that one!

We also had the pleasure of yet more Hoopes joining us. Chris, the son of John Hoopes joined the series. Larry, the son of Joe Hoopes, also signed on for the season. Both young gunslingers raced with us last season, and Larry had been with us at the Shootout as well. Now we have 4 (real McCoy) Hoopes folks in the series. Welcome to the series Chris and Larry!

Ed Needham brought his son along, it was good to see yet another future racer hitting the circuit. maybe next time he'll race!

The racing field was even with 28 racers on the grid. Plenty of competition with our very own Team Bigstuff running the oddities of the day. Mr. Bigstuff with a PINK MEV Mini Cooper, and JJ with an MEV (58 Caddy) Hearse, all done up for Halloween. Hey it wasn't fast but it worked to get the extra 5 points! We also introduced a new Team Member whom shall be known only as "Madman". As KC said..."Where do you get these guys from?" as Madman launched his loaner car from Mr Bigstuff off the track.

Speaking of track, this was the first series run of the "new" Paperboy layout. Without the hump, as the phrase from the shootout had rung out.... "dump the Hump" enough, it has stayed since that hazard removal. Thew track was running well, and although there are some small tweaks needing to be done, it seems everyone thought it to be a good challenge.

The racing was hot, the top leaders really had to battle it out once again to keep the top positions in the points standings. (more to come)
